Werribee Park Mansion, one of the most lavish properties in Victoria, was completed in 1877 by the Chirnside family, who were originally from Scotland. The Italianate Mansion was constructed from large basalt and sandstone and has been preserved and maintained over the years.
In 2019, HBS Group were engaged to complete roof conservation works which included chimney and urn repairs and rectification works.
HIGHLIGHTS/SCOPE OF WORKS:
- Carried out repair works to chimney 1, 2, 3 and 5 which included stone replacement, ashlar indent repairs, moulding indent repairs, mortar repairs and lead flashing replacement.
- Repairs were carried out to chimney 6 which involved render crack repair, rendering, stone replacement and indent repairs.
- Damaged urns were removed, new urns were fabricated and installed to match while stone repairs were carried out to one of the urns that did not require replacement.
- Washed down all chimney surfaces to remove organic growth, lichen, moss, vegetation, bird guano and debris.
